Biodiversity Protection Scenario for the Adriatic and Ionian Seas by 2030

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, in cooperation with the Municipality of Izola, organized an event in Brussels. The event was organized in the framework of the Facility Points of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) and was focused on Biodiversity and Marine Protection in the EUSAIR as a contribution to the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.

The project is co-funded by the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme. The event was attended by more than 50 participants from different countries and sectors, who heard presentations from the European Commission, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tunisia, Spain and Slovenia.

The event, co-organised by the Slovenian Business and Research Association in Brussels as a local partner, focused on the presentation of one of the possible scenarios for the protection of the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. The event took place in the framework of the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP23) process, held in Portorož, where Slovenia took over the Presidency of the Barcelona Convention in December 2023.
