Invitation to the Book presentation: Legal Aspects of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean Sea – An Adriatic and Ionian Perspective

The Maritime Law Association of Slovenia (DPPS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia, cordially invites you to the presentation of the book “Legal Aspects of Marine Protected Areas in the Mediterranean Sea: An Adriatic and Ionian Perspective,” which was published in September 2023 by the London-based Routledge.

The book’s editorial team included Dr. Mitja Grbec, Dr. Tullio Scovazzi, and Dr. Ilaria Tani, with contributions from Dr. Mitja Bricelj and Mag. Iztok Škerlič. The foreword was
contributed by Prof. David Attard, former long-time director of IMO IMLI in Malta and judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg. The book is part of the prestigious series “IMLI Studies in International Maritime Law”, edited by Dr. Norman Martinez, Director of the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMO IMLI) in Malta.

The presentation will take place on December 4, 2023, in the lobby of the Grand Hotel Bernardin, Portorož:

  • At 10 a.m., a press conference for the Slovenian public, which will be held in
    Slovenian.
  • At 6 p.m., a book presentation and press conference for the Slovenian and
    international public
    , which will be held in English.

The presentation will take place before the start of and on the occasion of the 23rd Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention COP 23. From December
5 to 8, 2023, Slovenia will host the meeting of Mediterranean member states in Portorož and, for the second time in history, assume the biennial presidency of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean, more commonly known as the Barcelona Convention.
